"I will sing and make music with all my soul," (Psalm 108:1).
An appreciation for the Musical Arts is instilled in all students at KCS beginning in kindergarten. Students in grades K-4 have general music classes which introduce them to concepts in vocal and instrumental music as well as music history. They conclude their year with an informance and a dramatic musical during which they present their newly discovered skills and talents.
Students in grades 5-6 are given the choice to pursue their music further in either band or choir. Skills are honed and showcased at school performances, as well as Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) competitions.
The opportunity to develop these skills is taken a step further in grades 7-8. While these students are offered more choices in electives, many choose to stay involved in music through continuing in band or choir. These students also participate in both school performances and ISSMA competitions.
