Fundraisers
The 1st Annual Days of Caring was a HUGE success! Throughout the month of May, our students, staff and parents put forth their best effort to raise money for our great school. Thousands of letters and emails were sent to friends and family members all over the world! When the dust settled over $43,000 was raised! Way to go Chargers!
Through the collective efforts of the KCS family, we will be able to continue to improve on the great tradition and impact we are having in the name of Christ! The funds raised from this event will go toward
- ceiling mounts and projectors in the classrooms
- tuition assistance for families that have fallen on hard times
- Making a Difference Foundation (the interest earned from this endowment goes toward increasing teacher salaries)
To celebrate all the wonderful gifts we have received over the 2010-2011 school year, we concluded our Days of Caring by worshipping the Lord through service to others. Students from all grade levels loved the world around them in the name of Jesus by giving of their time and talents at various locations in our community. The locations of service included:
- Nehemiah Church- 1st grade students pulled weeds and picked up trash (7 trash bags full in total!)
- Northview Christian Church- 2nd and 5th grade students prepared over 225 hot meals and sack lunches to be delivered to homeless families downtown as well as doing “spring cleaning” both inside and out for the church
- For God So Loved the World Ministries- 3rd and 8th grade students planted over 800 flowers, pulled thousands of weeds and spread 15 yards of mulch at the east side homeless rehabilitation facility
- Eagle Creek Community Church- 4th grade students trimmed bushes, pulled weeds, cleaned the sanctuary and spread nearly 20 yards of mulch
- Wheeler Mission- 6th grade students served meals, sorted clothes, and cleaned the facility
- Dalton’s Place (J.R.’s Food Pantry)- 7th Grade students filled hundreds of bags with thousands of food and clothing items to be distributed to local residents in need
The event culminated with the entire student body (parents, teachers, and staff) coming together at the 4H Fair Grounds to plant bushes and trees, mulch beds, and even clean up rocks from the horse arenas. After 3 hours, KCS had planted 99 bushes, shrubs and trees, spread 75 yards of mulch, and picked up thousands of pounds of rocks.
Through it all, rain or shine, blazing heat or frigid gusts of wind, the KCS family wore smiles on their faces, had joy in their hearts and was tremendously blessed through their efforts to bless others. All praise and glory be to the God who gives us all we have. We can’t wait to do it again next year!
