KC Myers is the Elementary Principal at Kingsway Christian School.  His fondest school memories come from his middle school days at a classical Christian school in Virginia.  It was in this setting that he witnessed the depth of influence a teacher possesses.  His favorite teachers were those who attempted to do more than merely instruct the mind.  These teachers engaged the heart, cultivated an insatiable love of learning, and led him on the path to continually explore the truth of God manifest in both His Word and His world.

Monique Martin is a 4th grade teacher at KCS. One of her favorite memories is from high school. She was a procrastinator and had left an important economics project to be completed the night before it was due. To her dismay, she realized she had nothing at home with which to color her project. Living on an island without the benefits of 24-hour convenience stores did not allow her the freedom to venture to the nearest Wal-Mart for supplies. Therefore, she had to be creative with the materials she used. "Needless to say, the next day in class, my teacher was not thrilled that I had chosen to paint my project with my sister’s various shades of fingernail polish."

Brooke Reed teaches 6th grade Reading/Language Arts at Kingsway Christian School. She is also a KCS alum. Her favorite school memory takes place in fourth grade with Ms. Christy Hughes, who taught us a new Bible verse every week. She always set the verses to a fun beat to help us memorize the words. We memorized dozens of verses that year, and I remember every one to this day! It’s incredible that I can remember God’s words, even many years later, and attribute it to the solid, Christian education I was privileged to receive.

Maria Buescher is the Lunch Coordinator for KCS.  Her favorite school memory is from her sophomore year of high school.  There was a new teacher at school who offered a creative writing class.  He encouraged her to dig deep inside when writing, to try out many different writing styles and to keep at it.  Since then she have “placed” in writing competitions and has had a few pieces published as well as writing part of a Sunday School curriculum.

She thinks the best part about of working at KCS is getting to know the students and loving them as Jesus would.

Shannon Yeater is the Office Manager at KCS. She has lots of good memories from her school years. One involves Mrs. Verdugo, who she had for 2 years in a split Second and Third grade class. Mrs. Verdugo sewed her own dresses and one in particular had a full petticoat that was themed on farm animals. The animals on her dress could be removed and played with! She also challenged her students and pushed them to be successful. She also remembers in fourth grade she was selected to be a "math helper" and was able to assist other classmates who were struggling with their work.

Judy Heuss is a permanent substitute teacher for KCS. Her favorite part of her job is getting to know the students and the office staff and learning how each teacher teaches. She loves the “God moments” when she can interject the truth of God into whatever she is teaching.

Her favorite school memory is from 3rd grade when she did a science fair project about the circulatory system.  "I did it all by myself and created a heart with valves all out of paper.  It didn’t look very fancy and I was sure that I wouldn’t get a blue ribbon but I was very proud that I didn’t have any help.  To my surprise, I DID get a blue ribbon and I was so happy!  My mom and dad were so proud of me and they even took a picture of me with my ribbon and project.

She remembers, "It was a loving, nurturing environment even after I tipped over the bucket of soap water while washing the blackboards."

Ben Biddle is the instructional coach and computer teacher for KCS. His favorite teacher was his high school art teacher, Mrs. Rightly, because she would let you try different things. In years 3 and 4, the courses were self-learning. She would give them a topic of study and then a project that was experiential. For instance, they would study Michealangelo painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and then the students would get to paint ceiling tiles in the art room. He also remembers each year there would be a theme selected and then the gym would be decorated based on the theme. One year the theme was Disney characters, so they painted 12 foot tall characters dressed in the school's uniforms!

Brandi Fishburn is the assistant athletic director at Kingsway, she is also the permanent Spanish substitute for grades 5-8. She is a KCS alum and one of her favorite school memories is from 1st grade when she got to be a bald eagle in the 1st grade zoo, after taking a field trip to the Indianapolis Zoo. She also loved going to Washington D.C in 8th grade.

Carolyn Holsapple is a choir and music teacher at KCS. Her favorite memory from her school years was when her high school choir traveled to St. Louis for a festival and fun at Six Flags. She came home with a huge stuffed bear that someone had won for her!

Heather Roth

Heather Roth

Heather Roth is a band and music teacher at KCS.  Her favorite school memory is when she was in marching band her senior year and her band made it to the state finals for the first time.  She still remembers the excitement she felt as they performed and the fact that her younger brother lost his shoe on the 50 yard line.  Mrs. Roth says, "To this day when I hear Dvorak’s “New World Symphony” it brings a smile to my face."

Jenna Brock

Jenna Brock is an art teacher at KCS. Her favorite memory from school was in 6th grade when she and her classmates had the opportunity to throw water balloons at the principal during field day.

Lynette Baldwin

Lynette Baldwin is a Spanish teacher at KCS.  Her favorite memory from her days in school is when she sang the solo for her high school choir Christmas concert.  She sang the first verse of "O Holy Night."  It was magical then and is still her favorite Christmas carol.

Noelle Dean

Noelle Dean is the Instructional Coach at KCS. She is a also a KCS alum. Here is her favorite memory from school: "My favorite memory is that of my 5th grade teacher from right here at KCS! Mrs. Trout was one of those teachers who had high expectations that you didn’t want to disappoint, but all the while you knew she genuinely loved you. She used to call us her little “punkins.” She would always have Jolly Ranchers for us to enjoy while learning. I remember that she would take small groups of us out to get a coke so that she could spend time getting to know us better outside of the classroom. Mrs. Trout is one of the main reasons that I am a teacher today!"

Ronda Able

Ronda Able is a physical education teacher at KCS. A favorite school memory from her childhood is of her 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Gallaway.  She had previously been a member of the Peace Corp and had lived in Guatemala.  During the school year Mrs. Gallaway shared the language of the country and made the idea of serving others sound like such a wonderful adventure.

Shannon Frazier

 

Shannon Frazier is the RTI coach. His favorite teacher was from his high school years. He had Mr. Qualls for accounting. It was evident in his interactions with students that he was a Christian. Mr. Frazier remembers him as being compassionate and that he lived out his beliefs.

Lisa Boston is a RTI assistant at KCS.  She is also a KCS alum.  Her favorite school memories come from her days as a student at KCS.  She loved participating in kite day and competing in the science fair.  She remembers winning a calculator and a book about Yellowstone National Park at the regional science fair competition for her research on electromagnetic waves in our community.

Dr. Trent Lambert serves as an executive pastor in a local church in the community. He teaches at a number of Universities and Colleges both on campus and as a distant learning professor.

Amber Roth is our Resource Specialist at KCS through Avon Schools.  Her favorite school memory is her many wonderful teachers that really took the time to get to know her and the sports/extra-curricular activities were definitely some of her best memories throughout school.
